Week 9 Thing 23

My favorite discovery excercises were the ones where we made an avatar... and the ones where we explored flickr.

The program has extended the toolbox that I can reach into to retrive information. The diverse range of information and search techniques will help improve lifelong learning.

The program accomplished what I expected of it... I wish that it was not as time consuming to get into.. and each one would have a podcast of less than 10 minutes which explains everything step by step... and allowed free time to experiment.. instead of learning soley through the reading... and struggling through the experimentation.


My learning through this program has been benificial. I got to try different things such as podcasts that I had read about.. and saw.. but didnt want to download to my computer.. Web 2.0 in my oppinion is flawed... but this experience has changed my mind to a point where I feel more comfortable using it.

Week 9 Thing 22

Overdrive is a novel concept... however.. not having a Windows PC(which is the only thing DRM supports since Microsoft can sort of control it) at home... or a DRM enabled mp3 player.... (Nor wanting either)... it is pointless since I could not listen to the DRM encrypted files without first breaking through the security... I do not believe its worth the hassel to listen to any DRM enabled book or music...

Music and books, like knowledge, are free to be shared and modified amoungst others. Where would Wierd Al be if DRM was out when he hit the stage? Take off the restrictions for checking out.. and remove the DRM.. and Overdrive just might be feasible.

I learned of a few good podcast search sites that covered a large variety of differnet podcasts.

I have to say... of all the video's that I have seen on YouTube... this is my all time favorite..

Week 8 Thing 19

I tried the games2web.com site.... and I think it is horrible... its basically a collection of flash games... ridden with advertisements... and a poor selection of games to play... not any type of web 2.0 site...

Week 8 Thing 18

I dislike the online word documents for three reasons.



One, privacy... anyone has the possibility of stealing all your ideas or works since you keep it on a public server.



Two, accessability... if the server goes down.. you loose access to all your documents...



Three, features.... although they have a decent set of features currently... there are plenty more to be added that can already be found on desktop installed Office Suites.

Nothing new... extremely simple... I am not a big wiki fan... I love editing pages by HTML instead of digital text via XML...
